Trip Report

A group of about 15 met at the Vancleave Library parking lot and traveled to the Upper Pascagoula River Wildlife Management Area off of Boneyard Road between Agricola MS and Brandon.  Charlie Brenke and Claire English had done a pre-trip check of the area earlier in the week, and did not locate any Wood Storks.  It appears the water was a bit high for their feeding preference.  They were not present on the field trip as well.

Our group was able to view a Pileated Woodpecker excavating a hole in a tree for quite some time.  Anhingas were seen perched on stumps drying their wings.  Charlie described several plants and mushrooms along the way.

The group had watermelon snack and ended the trip with a visit to the scenic Pascagoula River at the end of Boneyard Road.

See a description of this location on our Coast Birds page.
