MCAS Activities

 

Each year Mississippi Coast Audubon Society sponsors a variety of field trips led by experienced, volunteer naturalists.

 

These trips are designed to provide opportunities for learning about and enjoying wildlife in their natural environment.

The trips are open to the public. Mississippi Coast Audubon strives to make these trips very enjoyable but please be aware of your own limitations and let the trip leader know of any problems you may have and we will gladly try and accommodate you.

 FIELD TRIPS:  

 

 

September 20              Honey Island Swamp,  LA                 Sue Epps                                          Off I-59 just north of I-12                    Barbara Bowen

 

              This trip requires boots and a LA Wildlife Stamp or Hunting License

              (PRE-PURCHASE YOUR OWN FOR $5.00 at Wal-Mart in Slidell  or

              Waveland; also available at Academy Sports in Gulfport)        

              Meet at MS Welcome Center, Exit 2, at 7:30 AM.  Good trails!

 

 

FIELD TRIP

 

October 11                  Dauphin Island                                   Sharon Milligan

Meet at 7:30 AM at  Cadillac Park on the island.  Take a left at

water tower;  park will be on right.

 

October 25                 Crane Fest at MS Sandhill Crane Refuge.  10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.  Call Emily Neidigh at the refuge for more information: (228) 497-6322

                                                                                               

November 8                MS Sandhill Crane Refuge                 Charlie Brenke

                                    Field trip includes tour of new facility and bird watching on site.

Meet at 7:30 at Refuge parking lot.

in Waveland.  Ansley, Logtown and/or beaches.
