MCAS Activities

 

Each year Mississippi Coast Audubon Society sponsors a variety of field trips led by experienced, volunteer naturalists.

 

These trips are designed to provide opportunities for learning about and enjoying wildlife in their natural environment.

2008 MCAS FIELD TRIPS

 

 

The trips are open to the public. Mississippi Coast Audubon strives to make these trips very enjoyable but please be aware of your own limitations and let the trip leader know of any problems you may have and we will gladly try and accommodate you.

 FIELD TRIPS:  

Saturday, February 2, Grand Bay NERR Refuge, Leaders: Mark Woodrey (228) 697-0460 and Jake Walker (228) 697-7157.  Meet at the NERR/Headquarters trailer office on site.  Trip starts at 1:00 PM

 

 Saturday, March 15, Ward Bayou Wildlife Mgt. Area.  Leaders: Charley Brenke and Claire English.  Meet at the Vancleave Library on Highway 57 at 7:30 AM.  A WMA User Permit may be required.   See the PUBLIC NOTICE  explaining the age and disability exemptions. "Users exempt from purchasing a hunting or fishing license (MS Code 49-7-5 and 49-7-9) are also exempt from purchasing the WMA User Fee Permit."  The User Permits are valid from date of purchase to 30 June 2008.   See the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks - Licenses page for more information.  WMA User Permits may be purchased  wherever fishing/hunting licenses are sold. 

 

Saturday, April 5, Logtown, Hancock County.  Leaders: Sharon Milligan  and Gerry Morgan.  Meet at the Mississippi Welcome Center at Exit 2 on I-10 at 7:30 AM

Saturday, April 19, Dauphin Island, AL. Leaders: Alison Henry and Don McKee.  Meet at Cadillac Park on the Island at 7;30 AM.

 

May: Boat trip up the Pascagoula River.  Details to be announced.
